Music is one of my greatest loves. Whether it’s playing the piano, singing songs, watching gigs or just going to the local karaoke night, I love it all!
Here are some bands I’m in to right now. Click on the names for more info and videos
La Roux :

La Roux or, the red head, in French
I saw her on The Brit Awards with Franz Ferdinand covering Blondie’s ‘Call me’, and initially thought, poor singing and Little Boots rip off, but after listening to her more and more I love her and her modern electro pop sound. I’m looking forward to her album being re-released later this month.
The Noisettes: Here’s another band I have had to give a second chance to. Last year I heard ‘Scratch your name’ and immediately dismissed them as another generic indie band. But now they’re back with ‘Don’t upset the rhythm’, which is so great and catchy I can’t get enough of it!
White Lies: ‘Let’s grow old together, and die at the same time’. Potentially very morbid lyrics, but the gorgeous arrangements and the Joy Division style vocals make me love this band even more.
Maccabees: Marry me, Orlando.

The Maccabees and Orlando at the front
This band just oozes style and sex appeal! Oh and the music is great too. No, really. If you haven’t heard their new single ‘No kind words‘ yet, with Matt Horne featuring in the video, where have you been!
Kings of Leon: Greatest band of the past ten years. Fact! Also, they are so unconventionally sexy! I mean, they’re from the Deep South and have/ did have longer hair than me, but I’d still rather have them over Jude Law any day! Maybe that’s just me though.
Florence and the Machine: She won a Brit award this year, but half the people watching didn’t have a clue who she was. Some people say she’s the new Kate Nash, but she is indisputably a thousand times better!
Elbow: Elbow are great because their chilled out evocative music has stolen the hearts of almost everyone recently. Their live recording with the BBC orchestra was the most stunning music I have heard in a long time, and it even got a big thumbs up from my mum and grandma- you can’t help but love them! You have to see this:
Imperial Leisure: About two years ago now I was walking back from Get Loaded in the Park, in Clapham, South London, and there was a massive crowd standing around a mad looking band performing in the middle of the street. The song, ‘I’m in love with the land lord’s daughter’ was fantastic, and everybody was joining in. I never found out the name of the band, or heard the song again, until a recent shopping trip to Manchester, where I saw them performing the same set, with the same response, out of the back of their van, on a busy street. I now know they are called Imperial Leisure, and they are going to be big. Very big!

Imperial Leisure and their famous out the van routine!

I love your music taste, great reviews!
Top. Although I’m not sure if Imperial Leisure are going to be very big as they having been playing out of a van for two years by the sounds of it! I also think Fleet Foxes should get a mention, as they are my new favourite band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrQRS40OKNE
